Hazard levels

Chemsoft rates the product's intrinsic hazards based on the classification of the product (section two in SDS.) The hazard is expressed using five hazard levels where the most hazardous products have a filled circle and the least hazardous products have an empty circle.
Hazard level 5CMR, lethal, and highly persistent hazards; can cause death, invalidity, or severe chronic illness.
Hazard level 4Toxic and highly dangerous substances; may cause serious organ damage, burns, allergies, or chronic diseases.
Hazard level 3Harmful and flammable chemicals; can cause eye irritation, mild organ effects, and allergic reactions.
Hazard level 2Low-risk substances; may cause mild skin/eye irritation or temporary discomfort.
Hazard level 1Minimal risk; generally safe under normal handling, minor irritation possible.

Below is summary of the consequences of all hazard levels. Show detailed information of hazard levels and its hazard statements here.

Hazard Level 5 - Extreme Danger

Health Risks

  • Substances that are fatal if swallowed, inhaled, or in contact with skin.
  • Can cause cancer, genetic damage, or harm fertility and unborn children.
  • Includes the most dangerous chemicals (CMR substances).

Environmental Risks

  • Extremely toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects.
  • Substances that accumulate in nature and living organisms.
  • Includes severe threats like ozone depletion and widespread water contamination.

Safety Risks

  • Substances that are explosive, even without air.
  • May cause severe fires, blast hazards, or violent reactions.
  • Includes chemicals causing serious endocrine disruptions.

Hazard Level 4 - High Danger

Health Risks

  • Toxic if swallowed, inhaled, or in contact with skin.
  • Can cause serious burns, eye damage, and allergic reactions.
  • May damage organs or cause long-term health issues.

Environmental Risks

  • Very toxic to aquatic life and some land species.
  • Includes substances suspected of causing endocrine disruption in the environment.

Safety Risks

  • Extremely flammable gases, liquids, and aerosols.
  • Explosive hazards when heated or improperly handled.
  • May react violently with air, water, or other chemicals.

Hazard Level 3 – Moderate Danger

Health Risks

  • Harmful if swallowed, inhaled, or in contact with skin.
  • Can cause eye irritation and mild organ damage.
  • Some substances may trigger allergic reactions.

Environmental Risks

  • Toxic or harmful to aquatic life with possible long-lasting effects.

Safety Risks

  • Flammable gases, liquids, and solids.
  • Pressurised or refrigerated gases that can burst or cause burns.
  • Substances that can self-ignite or react dangerously with water.

Hazard Level 2 - Low Danger

Health Risks

  • May cause mild skin or eye irritation.
  • Can cause dizziness, drowsiness, or respiratory irritation.
  • Some risks from repeated exposure.

Environmental Risks

  • Harmful to aquatic life, but impacts are less severe than higher levels.

Safety Risks

  • Flammable liquids and gases, but generally less intense hazards.
  • Some substances may become combustible in certain conditions.

Hazard Level 1 – Minimal Danger

Health Risks

  • May cause mild skin irritation in rare cases.
  • Usually safe if handled properly.

Environmental Risks

  • No significant environmental impact.

Safety Risks

  • No special safety hazards under normal conditions.
